A Fun and Educational Activity

Rugbysurf is a non-violent sport that helps develop:

  • mobility and comfort in water,

  • paddling efficiency,

  • pivots and posture changes (lying down / sitting) on the board.

Initially designed as a teaching tool for aspiring surfers, it is now offered to groups of friends, company groups, and bachelorette/bachelor parties.

Extremely playful, it strengthens teamwork skills and the aquatic skills of surfers… but without the constraint of waves.

Session Outline

A one-hour session includes:

  • an initial briefing with an explanation of the rules and paddling and mobility techniques on the board,

  • followed by a friendly match refereed by the instructor.

For sports teams from other disciplines, the game rules can be adapted according to specific educational objectives.

Rugbysurf in Seignosse – Ki Surf School

A sport born in Les Landes

A native of Les Landes, Eric Lafargue created an original activity that fuses Landes culture and surfing: rugbysurf.

This unique team sport is played on calm water, with only two accessories: a foam surfboard and a mini rugby ball.

The Game Principle

Rugbysurf is played with a minimum of 6 participants, divided into an attacking team and a defending team.

A referee placed in the center of the water marks the try line to be touched.

The rules of the game are simple:

  • when a player loses the ball or falls off their board, they must wait for an opposing player to take the ball before attempting to retrieve it,

  • the objective is to score by touching the try line, while maintaining balance on the board.
