Eric Lafargue in the communities of Capbreton, Hossegor and Seignosse, offers you courses of tai chi chuan, (Chen style) a martial art and health discipline that he learnt in China with the master Chen Xi Peng and his daughter, master Xuejiao, who lives in France.
Surfing instructor and a former Aikido practitioner, Eric came to the conclusion that taichi enabled him to improve his surfing performance. It was with the idea of boosting his physical capacities and to maintain good health that he continued his training, while at the same time respecting the martial art aspect.

Tai chi chuan is very like Kung-fu whose movements, carried out slowly and with precision, aims at the martial efficiency as much as with the health of body and mind.
Ki Surf School claims convivial and stressless practice for the well-being of everybody, respecting the capacities and aspirations of each individual.

Mastering of coordination and release to manage day-to-day stress and to experience well-being in the body.

THE TAICHI COURSES

Ki Surf School propose initiation of taichi courses, discovery weekend, and 5 days-training-courses. It is possible also to follow a specific taichi training program for improve your surfing skills (Ki Surf) or to get private lessons.
A 5 days course to learn a part of the tai chi chuan form (set of taichi mooves) and the basics of the Chen style.

Outside this fixed dates, it is possible to get other taichi courses, subject to availability. Thanks to contact us if you have specific expectations, we will do our best to satisfy you.

For a regular practice, all year long, except for summer time.

Bad weather, winter time, it’s not always possible to surf. That’s where tai chi chuan becomes interesting to keep fit and to maintain his physical habilities !

The wide and harmonious movements of Tai Chi Chuan disolve everyday tensions and back problems for a reappropriation of body and mind.
Classes last 1h30, 1 to 2 times a week, indoor or outdoor (depending on weather).

STRESS MANAGEMENT
Incessant changes in the ocean make surfing a discipline which teaches how to adapt to the present moment (the surfer turns himself around the waves, he doesn’t attack them head-on). The adrenalin and euphoria of sliding, as action motors, changes urgent situations into postive stress management.
At the same time, Taichi allows a state of calmness to exist to make an appropriate reply to external agressions (when tense, the body and spirit become inoperational).
Tai chi chuan is part of kung-fu whose movements, carried out slowly and precisely, aims at martial efficiency as well as health of body and mind.

LEARNING ABOUT FREEDOM, WITHIN THE RESTRICTIONS OF ONE’S ENVIRONMENTt
As in every company, freedom takes place within limits of security and knowledge of the environment.
Every learning experience, and even more so in martial arts, is based on the idea of discipline, not that of restriction but positive discipline which enables the instructor a little space.

THE BALANCE
Balancing on a surfboard, as well as the balance demanded by the postures and Taichi movements impose also on the body a postural rigour which contributes to body balance for better health (back problems, bad respiration psychosomatic illnesses …)

TAICHI : DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILD AND YOUNG ADULT

Tai chi chuan is not a keep-fit form of gymnastics for older people. Neither is it an esotheric discipline, nor a type of yoga or meditation.
Taichi is definitely part of Chinese energetic arts and constitutes, by this title, a health discipline. But is also is part of the kungfu family. More precisely, internal kungfu which calls for avoidance techniques rather than brute force.
For this reason, tai chi chuan is practised in China from a very young age and Ki Surf School wishes to promote these virtues of taichi in the psychomotor development of the child and young adult.
